| Hello, Paul Young here, with some ideas for your Father/Daughter dance. The Mills Brothers version of "Daddy's Little Girl" is a rare choice, but is my personal favorite because it is less than two minutes and elderly guests love the song. Next: "You're My Hero" sped up: Songs can edited in many ways to suit your taste. Famous Father/Daughter Dances: "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker was used by Jenna Bush when she danced with her father, former president George W. Bush. "The Way You Look Tonight" was the choice for the movie "Father of the Bride." The Sinatra version is used most often, though it is rather upbeat- almost swing. The Tony Bennett version is very slow. The Rod Stewart version has a nice tempo and became slightly famous in 2004 when he performed the song on American Idol. The audio clip below beings with Rod Stewart, fades into Sinatra, fades into the version from "Father of the Bride" then goes back to Rod Stewart. If you like Country Music, you may want "I Loved Her First" by Heartland or "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. Songs Custom Written for the Father/Daughter Dance include"When Angels Fly." More song ideas: "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban; "Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle, "My Girl" by the Temptations More Ideas: You could ask me to invite other fathers with daughters present to join you on the floor half way through your dance. Make a show: You could choreograph a "break" in the middle of a slow dance and do something upbeat for a moment, and come back to the original slow song. Add a slide show: You could make a "growing up" video that I could play on a screen or wall set up beside you on the dance floor, to project while you dance. I provide a 3' screen, projector, laptop, and a DVD player that you can use if you let me know in advance. Many more song ideas are available- Ask me to email you a list. Audio clips are easy to find online- I'll help you search. I look forward to helping you in any way- call me at 952.832.5555 or email pfyoung@visi.com - Paul Young |
