Paul here with some ideas for the Father/Daughter Dance:
The Mills Brothers version of "Daddy's Little Girl" is the first audio sample:
Below: "You're My Hero" sped up (Paul can speed up, slow down, or
otherwise edit any song or song medley...)
"You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker was used by Jenna Bush and
President Bush. "Butterfly Kisses" (Bob Carlisle) and "Cinderella"
(Steven-Curtis Chapman) have been popular with brides with a strong
Christian theme.
"The Way You Look Tonight" has a special version with a perfect tempo on
the soundtrack to the movie "Father of the Bride" - However, the Sinatra
version is used most often, though it is rather upbeat- almost swing.
The Tony Bennett version (soundtrack to "Muriel's Wedding") is the
opposite: No orchestra, very slow tempo. The Rod Stewart version became
famous when he performed the song on American Idol. The tempo is
perfect and the orchestration is magnificent.
Other ideas: Have Paul invite all fathers with daughters present to join you
on the floor half way through your dance.
Seen in Youtube Videos: You could choreograph a "break" in the middle of
a slow dance and do something upbeat for a moment.
One of my personal favorites is one that goes back and forth from slow
dancing to upbeat dancing: "You're Just Too Good to be True, Can't Take
My Eyes off of You..." by Frankie Valli
New Country Music: "I Loved Her First" by Heartland and "My Little Girl"
by Tim McGraw are tied for most requested country-style Father/Daughter
Dances. "When You Say Nothing at All" has been used a few times as well.
Songs Custom Written for the Father/Daughter Dance include"When Angels
Fly" (available only by mail order through a special Christian website)
Many more are recommended in lists I can send to you upon request.
I look forward to helping plan the perfect reception! - Paul
