Planning: The ideas on this page cover just about everything I can do for you as your DJ, but if you think of more ideas,
let me know- I'm flexible and open to anything.

Copy the text below, fill in your questions and answers, and paste it to an email to

djpaulyoung@yahoo.com

We can then meet in person or by phone to cover questions and ideas.

Ceremony:  Will I be involved with providing a sound system and microphones?  Will I be playing the Prelude, Processionals, Meditation, Recessional and
Afterglow music?  If so, I will need to load the music into my laptop at least a week before the event to study the intros, endings and volume levels.  I will also
need visual cues as well as a script.   Also, plan a location for my set up, electrical source, etc.

Social Hour:  Will you need me to set up a separate sound system in the foyer or on a patio for background music during social hour?

Grand March:
I'll need to practice pronouncing the names and have a list in order.
Following the Grand March, I usually introduce someone who does a welcome or prayer- what would you like to do?

Dinner Music: Any particular style of dinner music you'd prefer?

Slide Show:  Will I be involved with the slide show in any way? (If your venue allows, I could provide a video projector and
a projection screen- be sure to check with your venue contract to see if outside AV gear is allowed).

Clinking Glasses Announcement:  Usually the glasses will begin clinking to get you to kiss right away- either you or I
could then announce your special procedure as an alternative to clinking.
Ideas: “Bride and Groom History Trivia”  If they get it wrong or do not know the answer, they can still get you to kiss if
they do a 20-second dance move that I pick for them.
Idea #2: Kissing demonstrations that you need to imitate.
Idea #3: Tables of guests standing up and singing a part of a song with the word "love" in it, as a choir (or with my
microphone).
Idea #4: Have me announce a different special couple that needs to stand up and kiss before you do, each time the
glasses clink.  This could be a random drawing.
Idea #5: Have guests randomly draw a Hershey's Kiss or Hug from a jar- if they draw a Kiss, the bride and groom kiss, if
a Hug, the guest has to hug somebody.
Let me know if you'd like option #5 in advance so I have a chance to pick up some fresh candy.

Cake Cutting: "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" (James Taylor) "Sugar Sugar" (Archies) “The Sweetest Thing” (U2)
Would you like one or two of these songs played while you cut the cake?

Toasts: I'll be ready to turn down the background music and introduce the guests using the microphone. Some clients have
had me play bits of songs during the toasts- one best man even had me do a video presentation during his toast.  Feel free to be creative.

Beginning the Dance: I will check with you every 5 minutes or so to see if you are ready to do the first dance.

HOW TO WORD THE FIRST DANCE ANNOUNCEMENT:
For example:
"Let's welcome_________________________to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife"

FIRST DANCE:
Let me know the song title, artist and version of the song you'd like for your first dance.
Special choreography? I am able to edit your first dance song to fit your routine.

2nd spotlight dance?
Song title, artist, whom to announce:
3rd spotlight dance?
Song title, artist, whom to announce:
(Sometimes there are 4 spotlight dances: Bride and Groom, Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, Wedding Party)
Would you like to do your first dance following the Grand March before dinner?
Would you like to save the Father/Daughter, Mother/Son dances until 40 minutes into the dance?

Would you like a Salute to the couple that has been married the longest: There is a routine where I ask all married
couples to dance-and gradually eliminate them until the couple that has been married the longest remains on the floor?

Will anyone appreciate music that references any particular geographical region, city, state, country, or school?
Any predominant cultural ties (ethnic music)?

Special events during the dance: I usually wait about 10 songs into the dance before doing these:
____Bouquet Toss ____Garter Toss ____Dollar Dance

Should we have the catchers of the garter and bouquet do something special, such as leading a conga line around the
room? Should they be required to dance a slow song together?  Dance off?

Should I dedicate a Birthday or Anniversary song to anyone?

___“SEND-OFF” Is there a special song you’d like to end the dance with?
Suggestions: Piano Man... New York New York Happy Trails, Closing Time, Goodnight Sweetheart...etc.

GENRE SURVEY: Any particular styles of music to avoid?  Any style of music you and your friends dance to a lot?  Any
particular style of music your parents generation would like?
ARTIST SURVEY:  Any particular artists to avoid?
Are there any artists that you and your friends really like, even if it's not "dance music?"
SONG SURVEY:
Please indicate how much you like each of these- Y=Yes, N=No YYY! = must play NNN! = do not play even if requested
