| SLIDESHOW OPTIONS: Most clients provide me with a finished DVD that plays on a standard DVD player, which I play on my portable DVD player on the DJ table (so I can monitor the image on a small screen and run the audio in stereo directly into my sound system). I run a long cable (up to 100 feet) across the floor to my video projector (which is usually in front of me on the dance floor). If my projection screen is being used (if the venue does not provide a big one), I set it up on a 6-foot banquet table (or the DJ table if none available). The projector needs to be 15-20 feet out in front of the projection screen (sometimes this ends up being in a place where guests are seated, but we only need the space for the length of the show, so we can temporarily move a guest or a table if needed). If I am not provided with a DVD, I can use a memory stick loaded with a slideshow for playback on Windows Media Player. In this case, I need to set up one of my laptops out next to the video projector, and patch the video from the laptop into the video projector. The audio is then run from the laptop across the floor to the DJ table, or I set up a speaker out near the projector area. I also have mixed the audio portion as a DJ while the video played, following a guide to cues as to when to switch from one song to the next. The third method is rare, but I have done it a few times: I videotape the photos and rewind the tape, patching the camcorder to the video projector, and mix the audio as a DJ. This method does not require any computers, scanners or DVD players, and I can produce the video at the event itself, from a stack of old photos, as well as any fresh video images captured during the ceremony and social hour. If your video is on a mac, you would need to burn it to a home-use DVD for me. I have an adaptor to hook up some mac laptops to my projector, but not all of them. |
