Your price may be reduced if your event is not on a peak-season Saturday. Other reductions in price may come from shorter hours, such as music not being needed until after 8:00PM (Ask Mike about special rates on a pianist for live dinner music). All bookings for Paul Young feature Paul's expertise with handling requests from guests, technical skills, music library (with unlimited, free, personal planning time customizing your play list), and all of the other benefits of booking a DJ with over 20 years of experience- over 1,000 events (most of them weddings). Previous clients have praised Paul for crowd-reading skills, where he seems to know exactly which song to play at what time in order to keep dancers of all ages on the dance floor. Paul also has a perfect record for having never missed a show: Back up DJ's have never been needed but are always available for emergencies. All bookings also include the option to have Paul dressed in the standard black tux jacket and bow tie, or in whatever is preferred. Other ways to reduce the price: You could ask for a smaller sound system (minimum two 400-watt cabinets on stands), but Paul normally provides more, for a bass sound that allows dancers to "feel" the air movement, and for high frequencies able to be heard throughout the room (especially important for microphone use). The price would be lowered for minimizing the must-play and do-not-play lists to allow Paul access to the "latest and greatest" music, from which he would customize the mix based on guest requests and on your general guidelines. (General guidelines could be "clean versions of songs only- no explicit lyrics" or "no country music from before 2008" or "no suggestive lyrics before 11PM" etc.) Music samples can be found at any music website- www.lala.com is the most popular at this time. Upon request, Paul will send you play list highlights from recent events, with comments on songs that have been going over best with different age groups. You are welcome to customize the play list as much as you like in advance. Paul will obtain your advance requests and bring them along. Other features you may not need that would reduce the rate: Uplighting: You may have special colors in mind for your decor. Paul can customize his light show to accentuate the decor of the room with colors such as amber, aqua, magenta and blue. Colorless lights that are aimed along the walls are a favorite of most clients. Speakers in rooms other than where the dance is held: Paul has three pairs of speakers used to match the needs of any size room. For most rooms, Paul uses two pairs - self-powered bi-amped 400-watt Yamaha molded cabinets on stands are combined with two 600-watt JBL cabinets on the floor to create a deep, crisp "wall of sound." You can have Paul set up two systems that play background music at the same time if your event is spread out into different rooms. Footswitch-Controlled Spot Light: The “Follow Spot” is a favorite of wedding photographers as it lights up the wedding dress during the spotlight dances. Other uses: Aimed at the door when the bridal party enters the room during the grand march, and aimed at the dance floor for special moments. You can plan with Paul when and how to use it.
